Biography of Henry Willoughby, 6th Baron Middleton (1761-1835)

The 6th Baron was the only son of the 5th Baron Middleton and succeeded his father in 1800. He employed the architect Jeffry Wyatt, otherwise Wyatville, to make extensive alterations to Wollaton Hall. He died on 19 June 1835 and was succeeded by his cousin, Digby Willoughby, as 7th Baron Middleton .

Family

He married Jane, daughter of Sir Robert Lawley, Baronet, in 1793 (d 1852). They had no children.

Archive Collections

  • Title deeds, settlements, estate and legal papers relating to the 6th Baron's ownership of the Willoughby estates are part of the Middleton Collection held in Manuscripts and Special Collections at the University of Nottingham.
