Biography of Godfrey Ernest Percival Willoughby, 10th Baron Middleton (1847-1924)

The 10th Baron was the second son of the 8th Baron Middleton . He pursued a naval and military career, serving as a midshipman on H.M.S. Liffey on the West India Station from 1864 to 1865, and subsequently becoming Captain of the 9th Lancers. He succeeded his brother, the 9th Baron, in 1922. He died on 11 November 1924.

He married Ida Eleanora Constance (d 1924), youngest daughter of George W.H. Ross of Cromarty, in 1881, and had:

Archive Collections

  • A series of letters to the 10th Baron and his wife, mainly from their children, appear in the fourth accrual of the Middleton Collection (Mi 4 F ) held in Manuscripts and Special Collections at the University of Nottingham.
  • Title deeds, settlements, estate and legal papers relating to the 10th Baron's ownership of the Willoughby estates are part of the Middleton Collection held in Manuscripts and Special Collections at the University of Nottingham.
