Speaker's Name: Frederick ThogersenSpeaker's Affiliation: NottinghamSpeaker's Research Theme(s): Pure Mathematics,Abstract:Special values of L-functions are conjectured and, in some cases, proved to have deep connections to arithmetic objects like elliptic curves, motives and more. One way to study them is by parametrising these values within the p-adic integers up to respecting some properties. I will report on my work on p-adic L-functions attached to the cohomological automorphic representation of U(2n), this being the definite unitary group of degree 2n, with anti-cyclotomic variation. We will touch upon the use of homogenous spherical varieties and use the algebraic modular forms to describe cohomology groups of some locally symmetric spaces.
