Speaker's Name: Gary Mirams
Speaker's Affiliation: University of Nottingham
Speaker's Research Theme(s): School of Mathematical Sciences
Abstract:
Professor Gary Mirams and his team at the Centre for Mathematical Medicine & Biology work on modelling cardiac electrical activity. They collaborate with pharmaceutical companies such as GSK and Roche, as well as their regulators, and use simulations of drug effects on heart cells to predict potential side effects before human clinical trials. In his talk, Gary will share his journey in translating academic research into real-world impact.
