Biography

I obtained a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Cambridge in 2011, followed by three years working as a postdoctoral researcher at the MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge (2011-2013), and University College London (2013-2014).

I was a Lecturer (2014-2020) and then Associate Professor of Biostatistics (2020-2021) at the Department of Statistical Science, University College London, before joining the University of Nottingham in October 2021.

At University College London, I taught the following modules:

2018-2021, STAT0008 Statistical Inference

2014-2018, STAT7002 Social Statistics

2014-2018, STAT0014 Medical Statistics I

2014-2021, MEDC0046 Statistical Methods in Research

For a number of years, I also contributed to the teaching and learning support on the Practical Statistics for Medical Research (PSMR) short course, held annually at University College London.

Current Research

My main research interests lie in biostatistics and I work on a range of methodological and collaborative projects. Methodological research focuses on the development of statistical methods for modelling complex observational data, including longitudinal data analysis, multi-state and time-to-event modelling, clustered data and quasi-experimental designs for inference. Other work includes novel methods for modelling and risk prediction in liver disease with colleagues from the University of Nottingham School of Medicine.

I undertake a significant amount of collaborative medical research, including longstanding work with colleagues at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology on modelling clinical outcomes in epilepsy. Additional projects include the development and assessment of novel diagnostic methods in primary aldosteronism, with colleagues from University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and the UCL Department of Chemistry.
