Biography

I am a research fellow, modelling black hole binaries using perturbation theory.

I began my further education at Durham University where I graduated with an Msci in Physics.

I went on to study for my PhD at the University of Southampton, working under the supervision of Dr. Adam Pound.

Expertise Summary

I model black hole binaries using the self-force method in black hole perturbation theory. This method produces accurate gravitational wave templates when modelling binaries with disparate masses. Recent self-force calculations, including second-perturbative-order effects, have produced highly accurate waveforms compared to Numerical Relativity. These waveforms will soon be used to help gravitational wave data analysis. The focus of my work has been helping to calculate the important second-order effects. At Nottingham, I will also be helping to produce self-force models in alternative theories of gravity to General Relativity.
