Jerome Barrett BSc Natural Sciences with Placement Year Third Year Maths & Chemistry Studied Biology in Y1 Biology, Chemistry & Maths - A Level
I felt it was necessary to get some serious work experience before graduating from university and a placement year solved this problem.
I am working for Accenture in London. For the first 6 months I have been assigned to the client innovation services team. A client comes in asking for help solving a problem or coming up with ways to inspire their fellow executives to align on a new idea and we plan and run workshops in the innovation centre to achieve this. All in the meantime providing lots of logistical and help to make sure that it's a success. Clients and projects can vary across all areas of the business with some truly fascinating problems that need solving. The clients tend to be C suite so usually managing directors, executives, VPs etc which adds to the professionalism of each project.
So far it has been a bit slow but when the projects really get going I have been warned that a lot happens in a very short space of time so at the moment I feel like it's the calm before the storm.
Gaining time and experience in an office is underrated and will prepare me for any work in the future. Also being part of such a large and global organisation, I am hoping to gain experience in many different fields and services and hopefully get to travel to!
