Dr Gatev's research interests are in European integration and the accompanying process of disintegration of previous or alternative systems of order in East Europe.
He studies the external dimension of EU policies and their impact on the prevailing social, economic and political relations among the Union’s eastern neighbours, i.e. Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The focus of his inquiry has been the disruption of settled patterns of interaction occurring as a result of EU activity in the post-Soviet space. He also studies the modalities and impact of Chinese economic activity in the region.
Consultancy and Research: Dr Gatev is happy to explore opportunities to undertake consultancy and research work with external organisations.
