The nmCS team are here to help you access the facilities and expertise at the nmRC and broader University of Nottingham. We offer a number of ways to engage with industry, other higher education institutions or the public. See below for more information.
From micro- and nano-scopic visualisation to chemical identification, 3D-printed electronics to liposomal formulations, the nmCS team are on hand to use the array of materials characterisation capabilities at the nmRC and wider UoN to help with analytical needs on a diverse range of material systems.
We work to make it easier for those outside of the University to access the state-of-the-art instrumentation and associated know-how in a professional structured and time-efficient manner. The nmCS team ensure we commit dedicated resources towards meeting your needs and analytical requests, with co-ordination through a single point of contact.
We readily provide:
To see and learn more about our core capabilities and expertise on offer as services visit our facilities page.

The nmCS team is also available to support more comprehensive basic, applied or developmental research projects on behalf of external companies and businesses or in collaboration with other higher education institutions. This more systematic use and application of nmRC capabilities and expertise is an ideal option to tackle more complex challenges and developmental activities where high end material analytics are required.
Our dedicated team will work with you to understand your specific challenges and brief before applying our research capabilities and expertise to help solve your real-world problem or challenge.
Visit our case studies page to see some examples of how we have been able to use nmRC instrumentation and expertise to address research challenges.
Want to receive professional advice and support from our team of materials characterisation experts? We can arrange for them to consult on your projects and bring their world leading expertise to bear.
Our nmCS team are all highly experienced working at the higher education - industry interface and are happy to advise on who might be the best fit for your particular field or challenge. Whether that is directly from within the nmRC or elsewhere within the University of Nottingham
For a quick look at our core nmRC team and their associated expertise please visit the nmRC people page.
The nmCS team has responsibility for the broader knowledge exchange activities of the nmRC, including our public outreach activities.
We're passionate about promoting materials characterisation, surface and interfacial science and we actively look to find ways to engage the public around our capabilities, achievements and challenges.
We will happily consider requests from the public, interest groups and societies and have dedicated time each year to offer a number of hosted visits to the nmRC, visits and presentations to local community groups and provide contributions to broader scientific engagement events.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss a potential opportunity.
