Physics Futures 2025
Networking event with Nottingham physics alumni
2 April, School of Physics and Astronomy
(C14 School of Physics and Astronomy)
We want encourage career conversations between our current physics students and Nottingham physics alumni
Physics Futures is an opportunity for our undergraduate and postgraduate physics students to meet Nottingham physics alumni and start conversations about career paths in physics. We want to showcase the diversity of employment destination of physics graduates to our students and help them to get a clearer picture about pathways into the variety of professions. We would like the alumni to share stories about their decisions, chance and circumstance that played out to shape their careers.
Come to inspire and get inspired about what is possible to do with a physics degree!
Nine alumni will be joining us representing industries as diverse as industrial R&D, finance/pension and asset management, medical physics, academe, independent research and science communication.
In 2022, we used a chance at this event to interview the alumni about their roles and how their physics degree helped them. Follow the link to WRIPA YouTube page to watch the video interviews with Rudhan Parnell (GORS Civil Service), Rebecca Bartram (tranee physics teacher), Josephine Mellor (Experian), Matt Richardson (EDF Energy), Danny Wray (Capital One), Hugh Baxter (Capgemini) and Mike Weir (University of Nottingham).
