Some users are reporting an inability to open CHART following installation of the December 2014 Microsoft security update that is described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS14-082. When they try to start CHART they see a popup message with "Runtime error 438 Object doesn't support this property or method".
Microsoft have released a fix for the problem which was caused by their faulty security update. Details are available on the Microsoft support website. The recommended solution is to use Microsoft Fix it 51031, which must be run by a user with administrator rights and should resolve the problem for all users. Where that is not possible Microsoft Fix it 51029 may be run to fix the problem for the current user.
Users who are unable to install the fixes themselves or who continue to experience problems are advised to contact their local IT support team. This issue and Microsoft's attempts to resolve it are discussed further in this article.
