CHART users will be keen to hear that PRIMIS will be issuing an improved version of the software tool before Christmas, with the majority of changes aimed at simplifying the user experience.

There are some changes and considerations regarding the upgrade that you need to know in advance...

Among other improvements, there will be now only one1 version of CHART catering for all versions of Microsoft Excel, as well as a reset button that refreshes CHART after you have installed a new or updated audit tool (avoiding the need to restart).

This new release is due next week (from Monday 14th December). We will keep you updated with information about its release and the changes included, plus any instructions or advice that practices need to know.

This new version will be a 'forced update', meaning that anyone seeking to install a new audit tool or update an existing audit tool will be required to upgrade to the new version of CHART beforehand.

Although we don't expect the majority of practices using CHART to encounter any problems, there may be an issue for any practices that have their C: drive locked down by an IT administrator. In this instance, it would be best if those practices do not download and install any new updates to the PRIMIS audit tools they are using when the new version of CHART is installed (ie until such time as they can arrange for their IT administrator to 'unlock' their C: drive).

When the new version of CHART becomes available full details of its functionality and how to obtain it will be included in an email and on the PRIMIS website.

If you have any worries about this transition period, please do get in touch via email.

 1. Certain CHART users on specific projects may still require an Excel v2003 version for the foreseeable future. An appropriate version of CHART will be made available to them for as long as is required.
