This version will incorporate recent changes to the NICE guidance (released December 2015) and improvements to both functionality and display.

Anyone using the audit tool for payment validation or to support enhanced or locally commissioned services will need to be aware that this new version is scheduled. (Although this is not the audit tool's intended or supported purpose, we recognise that the results from a Diabetes Care audit may help some organisations with other commissioning activities, particularly if monthly or quarterly returns depend on audit results).

Several important and beneficial improvements will feature in the next version which practices should find exceptionally useful:

  • changes to NICE guidance, specifically around the intensification of drug treatment and the blood glucose lowering pathway
  • updated filters in the case finder to support the Public Health England Diabetes Prevention Programme
  • new functionality allowing direct access from the summary sheet to patient lists in both the case finder and the main care audit
  • 'click through' from the blood glucose lowering pathway directly to lists of patients considered 'out of range'
  • additional graphs which provide further flexibility in accessing lists of patients deemed appropriate for review

Please note:

Any organisations using Diabetes Care for additional purposes (as mentioned above) may find they are affected when the new version is released.

If this applies to your use of the audit tool, please complete the following short survey to help us understand how you use Diabetes Care and make the transition to the new version as smooth as possible:

PRIMIS will keep its Hub members up-to-date with details of the full improvements and changes to the Diabetes Care audit tool and the release date when it is confirmed. Please keep an eye on the PRIMIS website and for future Hub Update emails or subscribe to our Twitter feed.
