PRIMIS has developed a new audit tool to help GPs easily identify patients at risk of catching measles. This is in response to Public Health England’s national catch-up campaign to increase MMR vaccination in children and teenagers.

The primary target group identified by Public Health England is unvaccinated and partially vaccinated 10-16 year-olds. The PRIMIS audit tool helps practices to identify all patients who were not immunised as children and do not have a record of any adverse reaction to the vaccination. As well as the target group, the new audit can identify patients up to the age of 18 who have previously refused vaccination or have only been partially vaccinated. The tool has a mail merge facility that will help GP practices to send letters to those at risk, or their parents. NHS England have announced a payment (£1.50) for contacting parents with children aged between 10 to 16 years who need at least one dose of MMR and a payment (£7.64) for vaccination of patients aged 16 and over. It is anticipated that all eligible children will have been vaccinated by 1 September 2013, however this programme is effective until 31 March 2014.  The audit calculates the potential income that a practice can generate via the MMR catch up programme.

As with all PRIMIS audit tools, the MMR Recall audit comes with a dashboard view that’s easy to read and gives a graphical presentation and ‘snapshot’ the MMR vaccination status of all children and young people in your practice.

Full PRIMIS Hub members can now access the new MMR Recall audit tool via the CHART update facility. Given the increased number of measles cases, PRIMIS has taken the unprecedented step of making the measles audit available to GP practices outside of full PRIMIS Hub membership service for a small fee.

If you not a full member of the Hub but wish to have access to the MMR Recall audit tool, it can be purchased separately.

If your membership is about to expire please contact PRIMIS to renew your membership to continue making use of the full range of PRIMIS audits.
