This page provides guidance on regulations that are specific to Degree Apprenticeship programme staff and students.
2.1 Attendance
The University’s regulations governing attendance and engagement, which can be accessed via the ‘related regulations, policies and procedures’ section below, apply to degree apprenticeship students.
In addition, apprenticeship students have contractual obligations regarding attendance which is monitored by the Institute for Professional Work Based Learning.
2.2 Curriculum design
The University’s regulations and guidance on programme and module design and approval, which can be accessed via the ‘related regulations, policies and procedures’ section below, apply to degree apprenticeship programmes.
In addition, when designing modules for Apprentice programmes, please refer to the specific guidance on Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs), specifically section 2.14.3 of the module specification guidance.
2.3 Undergraduate regulations
Regulation 19 and Regulation 20 of the Undergraduate Regulations will not apply to Degree Apprentices.
For any apprentice not satisfying the progression requirements at their first attempt, only one resit in each failed module will be permitted which must be completed before the apprentice progresses to the next year of study.
This regulation is in place to mitigate the risk of workload and time commitments becoming unreasonable/unmanageable when resit assessments are being undertaken concurrently with the new/upcoming content, as well as the apprentice’s need to undertake employment.
