The Biomaterials Discovery Programme Grant held their seminar on Thursday 19 April and Adam Dundas gave a great talk.
Adam’s talk was entitled: “Use of Microwaves for sustainable reaction synthesis.” Microwave-assisted organic synthesis (MAOS) has shown to reduce reaction times from hours to minutes. This talk explained how microwave heating works, how microwave heating compares to conventional heating methods and how microwaves can obtain large reaction temperatures with minimal output power.

It was a fantastic opportunity to hear about Adam’s previous work on microwaves and an excellent chance for the Programme Grant team to get together.
