Dara O'Brien goes to London:

On Monday 11th of December 2017 I attended the 'Frontiers in Green Materials' conference with members of Steve Howdle's polymer group from the Chemistry department. The event was held in the Institute of Civil Engineers in London, where I presented a poster and two of Steve's students gave talks. One highlight of the event was a talk by Dr. Kate Beers from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She spoke about the problems associated with identifying plastics in the oceans, and the importance of environmental scientists working together with chemists and material scientists to pool our knowledge to help tackle the problem.
