Scientists reveal surface structure of lipid nanoparticles that could improve vaccine and drug delivery

OrbiSims

A research team led by scientists at the University of Nottingham and including Sail Biomedicines (Massachusetts, US), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Massachusetts, US), and the National Physical Laboratory (Teddington, UK) demonstrated a new cryogenic mass spectrometry approach for depth profiling frozen tiny lipid nanoparticles to reveal the layers and orientation of the constituent molecules. This method could be used to improve vaccine and drug delivery, targeting a wide range of health issues.

The findings have been published on 22nd May in Nature’s Mass Spectrometry Method Development collection.

More details can be found on the University press release.
