Engineering Serendipity

Engineering Serendipity

The Biomaterials Discovery Programme Grant held their seminar on Thursday 17 May and Morgan Alexander was the first academic to talk as part of this series.

Morgan’s talk was entitled: “Engineering Serendipity”. The Next Generation Biomaterials Discovery Programme Grant is predicated on a screening approach to scientific discovery. This talk explored this approach, issues associated with it and implications from it. Attendees were requested to bring their own experiences, opinions and biases!

Morgan gave a fascinating talk about increasing your chances of making an ‘accidental’ discovery in science and discussed the work with Camstent. Morgan is the PI of the Programme Grant and leads Research Challenge 1: Moving from 2D to 3D Materials Discovery Methods.

It was a great opportunity to hear Morgan speak about how we choose to do research and a great chance for the Programme Grant team to get together.
