The FA3D platform is the testbed where newly developed innovative and ground breaking assembly methods and solutions for cost-effective future aerospace manufacture are tested and validated.

Future Automated Aircraft Assembly Demonstrator
 
 

Objectives

  • Deliver reconfigurable, evolvable cell to enable automated aerospace assembly and allow significant product variation

Impact / Results

  • Cell developed consisting of fixture, automation systems, process end effectors, safety sytems, RFID, control system software, informatics and cell infrastructure​
  • Utilised to deliver past projects, will be used in upcoming ASTRAL project​
  • ATI funding for FA3D2 realised
