On 8 June 2018, Professor John Jackson presented the paper 'Common Law Evidence and the Common Law of Human Rights: Towards a Harmonic Convergence?' at the Evidential Legal Reasoning World Congress (Congreso Mundial sobre Razonamiento Probatorio), the second conference of the series 'Filosofía y Derecho', hosted by the Universitat de Girona and the Càtedra de Cultura Jurídica (6-8 June 2018).
The conference was convened by Professor Jordi Ferrer (Girona) and Professor Carmen Vázquez (Girona), and was attended by almost 350 delegates. These included academics and legal practitioners, with many coming from South American countries. Also representing the CJRC and the University of Nottingham in attendance was Matt Thomason (PhD Researcher).
Other speakers at the conference included Professor Adrian Zuckerman (Oxford), Professor Ron Allen (Northwestern), Professor Ho Hock Lai (Singapore), Professor Sarah Summers (Zurich), Professor William Twining (UCL), and many others.
Prior to the conference on 5 June 2018, Matt Thomason attended a Workshop on Evidence Theory, hosted at the Universitat de Girona, and organised by Professor Christian Dahlman (Lund) and Professor Anne Mackor (Groningen). Papers were presented by Professor David Lagnado (UCL), Dr Floris Bex (Utrecht), Professor Dale Nance (Case Western), and Daniela Accatino (Austral, Chile).
