The Enchanted Forest is an ambitious specially commissioned play installation at Theatre Hullabaloo in collaboration with Horizon CDT and MRL. The forest is made up of a number of interactive trees, flowers that light up, a lily pad orchestra and trees that tell stories. It is designed for children to play in with their grownups.Roma will talk about what inspired the project and the process of developing the work for this installation. She will also discuss the visitors' responses and how digital DIY technologies can help to transform and create new unique space for performance installation. I will provide an overview of a proposal I am preparing for EPSRC aiming to explore novel forms of hybrid gifts that flexibly combine physical products with digital media in ways that enhance the holistic experience and hence the value of both. Feedback on the proposed research questions and work plan will be appreciated.
