Description

Peter, a new PhD student in the lab, will give an introductory talk this week.

Interacting with the Smart Campus: Investigating data visualisation and interfaces in planning-group decision making

As my first talk in the MRL I will introduce myself, my supervision team, and current scope of the PhD. As well as an overview of the planned PhD, I will go into some of the work that is going on at the moment and in the near future preparing for the first study.

In brief the PhD aims to explore how planning and decision making occurs on campus and on the scale of a city, to compare and contrast the shortfalls of the existing methods, and then to introduce and evaluate a technology probe in the form of a Projection Augmented Relief Model (PARM). Particularly of interest are the methods used currently to display and visualise data in multidisciplinary groups or inter-department discussions.
