Description

This week Tom will give a talk about a new project—The Future Mundane project.

The Future Mundane project

I’ll be providing an overview of a new project: Future Mundane, a collaboration with Lancaster university that is using a novel combination of Design Fiction and Breaching Experiments to create Mundane Experiential Futures that draw upon multidisciplinary expertise in computer science, the creative arts, and the digital economy to address the ‘problem of the future’ in emerging technology research and development.   A core work strand of the project is to instrument a caravan with a version of the “living room of the future” that will tour the country to solicit the public’s view on concerns related to privacy and the use of AI in mundane (home) settings.  I hope to be able to draw on the mrl’s creativity and expertise get a little inspiration on artefacts and experiences that might exist in a future living room.
