Professor Sarah Dauncey appointed to REF2029 panel

Professor Sarah Dauncey has been appointed by Research England to serve as an output assessor (Unit of Assessment 25: Area Studies) for the forthcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF) in 2029. She will play a key role in shaping the REF to support the higher education sector by providing a rigorous, trusted assessment of UK research. Professor Dauncey, a specialist in Chinese Society and Disability, said: "I am very honoured to have been reappointed to this fascinating sub-panel. It is probably the most diverse of all the REF panels. We receive submissions covering a huge range of fields from sociology to economics, from history to linguistics, and everything in between. We also review research on just about every culture and language (past and present) from around the world! It is a privilege to assess the excellent work produced by colleagues across the country. Just as importantly, I am committed to ensuring that we recognise healthy and inclusive research cultures within our academic institutions."
