Welcome to Childcare Services
Family friendly University
We cater for children of staff members of the University who are on permanent / fixed term contracts of employment and for full time registered students (including the first year of the writing up period for PhD students).
Our Philosophy
Each child is unique.
Here at the University of Nottingham Childcare Services, children
engage in learning experiences that support and enhance their progress
at times that suit their needs.
We see our role as providing, in partnership with parents/carers, an environment that promotes optimum physical, cognitive, emotional, social, moral and spiritual development.
We aim to achieve this by:
-
Providing an environment that respects each child’s right to privacy, dignity, choice, independence and fulfilment, and facilitates each child’s self-esteem.
Our staff ensure there is a safe, hygienic, stimulating and caring environment within which children feel secure and confident. We believe that it’s an enriching experience to acknowledge, respect, and learn about differences between people in our society and the service we offer aims to reflect the diversity in our social worlds. It’s our belief that children learn through play, hands on experience and interacting with the world around them, so we give them opportunity to use investigation, exploration and discovery skills. It is also our belief that competent, confident and skilled practitioners are key in the delivery of a quality service. We are proactive in supporting on-going professional development of staff through both in-service and external training and development opportunities.
*We operate a waiting list system as places are in high demand. Thus early applications are advisable.
