Evening class students enjoy NCI's end of course showcase party

2016’s winter semester Mandarin evening course programme closed in style on Friday 9th December with a showcase party organised by Nottingham Confucius Institute (NCI). Over 60 NCI students, old and young, ranging from beginner to advanced level, sang a song of their choosing in seven different groups. Many students said that singing Chinese songs was great fun and they enjoyed it very much. NCI also received a lot of thanks for organising the party. One student summed it up as ‘a perfect way to end the term, this has underlined the fact we’ve done something valuable – and fun!’. Another said that ‘coming to study Mandarin evening classes after full time work every Wednesday for the past ten weeks has not been easy. This event makes me feel like part of a community. I will definitely join the next round of lessons in the new year’.

NCI are delighted to have brought so many people with a passion for Mandarin together on a Friday evening when many are busy getting prepared for the coming Christmas break. 2017 promises to be a great year: with so many dedicated and lively students it could be nothing else!

NCI was established in September 2007.To meet the growing demand for learning Mandarin, it started running evening classes on a regular basis (each course running for 10 consecutive weeks on weekdays and offered throughout the academic year) from 2008. Courses were offered at all levels ranging from complete beginners to advanced levels. Over 2000 University staff, students and residents have attended these courses over the past years.
