Help for parents

It can be difficult to judge the wellbeing of your child, particularly at the remove that is common when they are going to University. If you have serious concerns about their health and wellbeing, then it is possible to arrange a brief telephone conversation with one of our counsellors.

However, please bear the following mind:

  • We will not be able to tell you if your child is attending the service, unless you already know this
  • It is not possible for the service to divulge information about their wellbeing
  • Confidentiality is vital to our work, and it's important that our clients be able to feel that they can speak freely. Because of that, we cannot pass information on to you

We can usually advise parents in general terms about what possible courses of action are available to them. Students who wish to see a counsellor will be offered a counselling consultation, and the counsellor will then assess what further help may be needed.

If you have any other questions, you can always contact us.
