Taught courses

The School of Economics offers nine MSc courses, which all share the same basic structure and have some modules in common, although each course is based around a set of specialist modules.  Six are in the "MSc stream", designed to provide research training in economics.  Three are in the "Applied MSc stream", designed to provide advanced training for analysis of economic policy, of use to those who want to work as professional economists in the private or public sector.

The MSc Economics Programme

The MSc Economics Programme is designed to provide core research training in economics, and has ESRC recognition as part of their "1+3" awards system.

The Applied MSc Economics Programme

The Applied MSc Economics Programme is designed for students who wish to apply advanced level knowledge of economics to practical and policy issues, of particular use to those who want to work as professional economists in the private or public sector.

 Diploma (Conversion) in Economics

The Diploma (Conversion) in Economics offers a route into the MSc programme for those who did not specialise in economics at the undergraduate level, but who have some background in economics or quantitative subjects.
