Nottingham Festival of Words 2014 Programme now live

The School of English is pleased to be a partner in this year's  Nottingham Festival of Words. The dazzling line up of events and diverse range of host venues pay a fitting tribute to Nottinghamshire's rich literary heritage.

The School of English at Nottingham will host a whole day of the festival on Friday 17th October, with a number of events delivered by School staff and students on campus in the beautiful Park Campus surroundings.

Creative Writing and Cognitive Poetics

And how can writers help linguists to understand language, creativity and imagination? We have the answers here! Rights or wrongs: the plagiarism debate

Poet Ira Lightman has become known for his work on uncovering plagiarism in the world of poetry. He joins a panel including poet Matthew Welton from the School in exploring the grey areas between plagiarism and legitimate influence.

Ali Smith in conversation with Jon McGregor

Renowned author  Ali Smith  will be reading from her latest book, Man Booker long-listed  how to be both, and discussing it with Nottingham author, Jon McGregor. Born in Inverness in 1962, Ali now lives in Cambridge.
