Alumni from the School of English
The School of English encourages students who have graduated from the School to keep in contact and become actively involved in the on-going development of an alumni community with the School of English and members of the English Society.
Alumni website
The University has an Alumni website where you can log-on and catch up with old friends and receive a Nottingham email for life. The University's Alumni Relations Facebook page is also a fantastic way of keeping up-to-date with the latest news and events. We have our own English Alumni webpage where you can find out more about the School.
Come to speak at an English Careers Event
Would you be able to come back to the School as a 'visiting' speaker? We will be holding a careers day on Wednesday, 16 November 2011 and Friday, 10 February 2012 for our current students.
We would love to include recent graduates from the School who would be willing to talk about their career to the current cohort of students in the School. Please contact us if you would be willing to meet current students and talk about your chosen career.
Provide a student profile
We are always looking for student profiles that share information about your course and time at Nottingham or your career progression since graduating. Please contact us if you would be willing to be featured in a student profile on our School website and the prospectus.
Continuing Professional Development
It doesn't matter how long ago you graduated, you may wish to come back to University either to pursue a postgraduate qualification or to attend the odd public lecture or research seminar. If you would like to attend an event in the School, do let us know, we would love to have the opportunity to welcome you back and can add you to our circulation list for public lectures. Please email Mari Hughes in the School of English.
If you are thinking about a postgraduate qualification please contact the Postgraduate Administrator to find out more about the courses and any funding that may be available.
You may wish to come along to all or part of our Summer School for distance learning students that we run at the end of June each year. We reserve a number of places especially for alumni from the School who may wish to consider coming back to university. Please contact Dr Valerie Durow for further information.
Organise an event
You can use the alumni webpages to set up a regional network or organise an alumni event.
Work placements and internships
Please help us to identify work placement opportunities/internships for current students and new graduates and contact us if you are able to offer a work placement or internship.
Mentoring
Would you be able to mentor a current student or recent graduate. Please contact us if you are able to offer mentoring opportunities.
Develop networks
We hope that the alumni webpages will help alumni and the School develop friend and supporter networks, business links and knowledge transfer opportunities.
Get involved and keep in touch!
Please encourage your friends and University friends to get involved and keep us up to date with any changes of address/contact details via the alumni webpages.
