The School of Geography is a leading international centre of postgraduate teaching and research. The taught Masters programmes attract around seventy students a year, and numbers on its doctoral research programme have risen to forty-five. The School attracts postgraduates through a variety of studentships and bursaries, from research councils, the University and government agencies and companies. Postgraduate students are an integral part of the wider research and teaching community of the School, which presently has thirty-eight academic staff.
Students enjoy high levels of support. The taught Masters programmes have small group teaching and tutorials. Masters students have full access to School facilities, including the dedicated postgraduate computing laboratory, refurbished physical laboratories and a resource centre.
