The Department of History has a thriving research community which includes both staff and research students, and will offer you many opportunities to develop your skills and widen your intellectual horizons. There are opportunities to participate in multi-disciplinary research and contribute to research seminars.
The University has excellent academic facilities through its graduate school, libraries and information technology and postgraduates also benefit from good quality accommodation, social, cultural and sports facilities that are available in the University and the City.

PhD applicants will have at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent and an MA (preferably at merit or above).
