Course Introduction

Immunology and Allergy 

   

Welcome to the website for the MSc in Immunology and Allergy.

The MSc in Immunology and Allergy is a one-year full time course designed to provide training in the theoretical and practical aspects of modern immunology with some emphasis on Allergy.

The course is suitable for graduates in life sciences, Biomedical Sciences and allied subjects as well as people who are already employed in related fields, who wish to improve and update their knowledge and gain valuable research experience. The majority of the students who attend this course continue their career in research by embarking on doctoral training programmes or working as a research assistant in research or industry settings.

Innovative features of the course:

  • Focus on human immune system with emphasis on allergy, autoimmunity and host-pathogen interaction 
  • Emphasis on Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Peer Assessment
  • Students undertake a substantial research project, during which they acquire a considerable amount of laboratory-based skills
  •  A module on Research Methods and a number of laboratory based training sessions
