£2.9 million EPSRC award for 2D research

£2.9 million EPSRC award to the University of Nottingham boosts research on two-dimensional materials

Researchers in the Schools of Physics and Astronomy and Chemistry at the University of Nottingham have received an EPSRC Strategic Equipment Award to establish a facility, EPI2SEM, for the EPItaxial growth and in-situ analysis of a new generation of 2-dimensional SEMiconductors. EPI2SEM will provide the UK community with a unique capability for the transformative miniaturization and functionalization of semiconductors, supporting a wide-ranging programme of fundamental science and application-driven research in the UK and internationally. They will team up with over 30 leading research institutes and industry to place the UK at the forefront of research on the next generation of semiconductors pushing the frontiers of modern technologies.
