Prof Mohamed Henini, founder of the International Conference on Low Dimensional Structures and Devices (LDSD), will be chairing jointly with Prof Isaac Hernandez from CINVESTAV (Mexico) the seventh meeting in these series, LDSD 2011. The conference will take place in Telchac, Nuevo Yucatan, Mexico on May 22 -27, 2011.

The conference is being established to provide an international forum for researchers, engineers, and product developers engaged in the full spectrum of research and development, from fundamental research to product manufacturing and systems applications to (1) to share with each other their latest ideas and novel exciting results, (2) foster new scientific collaborations, and (3) make new friends.

The use of low dimensional structures is a key technological element in the creation of new quantum functional devices, in the development of the next generation of electronic and photonic integrated circuits and many other nanoscaled devices that are needed for the information society of this 21st century. The superior performance characteristics of LDSD over more conventional devices have resulted in countless new applications being found in the automobile industry, telecommunications, aerospace, industrial and environmental monitoring, etc. In addition recent developments are accelerating commercial awareness of LDSD.

LDSD 2011 will continue the success of the ’95,’97, ’99,´02, ´04 and ´07 meetings, which were held in Singapore, Portugal, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, respectively, by addressing the latest advances in a broad range of LDSD technologies, and their integration for a variety of applications.
