Our guest speaker for the second Special Semiar of 2011 is serial entrepreneur Bruce Savage. He will talk about ‘Challenges and Opportunities of being a Serial Scientific Entrepreneur’.

Over the past 10 years academics, policy makers and managers worldwide have wrestled with the challenge of building businesses based upon novel research. Since 1991 Bruce Savage has co-founded 5 bioscience companies and has attempted to create another four. Bruce will review these businesses and highlight the challenges and opportunities associated with each. Finally he will present his conclusions regarding how best
to commercialise science in the UK through the formation of businesses based upon their intellectual property.

Bruce is a Special Professor at Nottingham University Business School, an Honorary Fellow at the Cass Business School in London and is a member of Vince Cable’s Entrepreneurs Forum.
