Abbie joined the University in April 2025 as an Assistant Professor in Marketing.
She was previously an Assistant Professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2021- 2025).
Abbie received a Ph.D. in Business and Management from the University of Nottingham (Nottingham University Business School). She holds a M.Sc. in Tourism Management (Distinction) from Bournemouth University and a B.Sc. in Hospitality and Tourism Management with Marketing (First Class Honours) from the University of Technology in Jamaica.
Abbie is committed to pursuing research on technologies in service contexts from the perspective of vulnerable stakeholders. She focuses on marketing innovations within the service industry from a critical perspective to enable the development of responsible technologies that foster inclusion, diversity, equality and belonging while improving technology transfer within service contexts. As a result, her research interest lies at the intersection of sociology, marketing and technologies in hospitality and tourism. Particularly within the tourism industry, she wants to continue exploring how to foster digital inclusion while also using technology to address longstanding social challenges.
Abbie's research has been published in leading hospitality and tourism journals and presented at various academic conferences. Meanwhile, her teaching experience spans Hong Kong, England and Jamaica in the areas of marketing, lodging management, contemporary issues in tourism, technologies in tourism and visitor attractions. She also has over eight years industry experience in the following areas: hotel front office, sales, reservations and marketing; events management; transportation; and destination marketing.

Abbie has published in a number of journals in tourism, presented at a number of conferences and published book chapters. She has been the recipient of research and teaching grants in Hong Kong for furthering research on fostering digital inclusion in service contexts. She has experience with supervising doctoral, masters and undergraduate students.
