My research interests can be divided into two areas: sociological approaches to contemporary consumption and the study of Higher Education. I co-edited the Routledge collection The Marketization of Higher Education and the Student as Consumer (2011). Since then my work has also appeared in books and journals including Human Relations, Marketing Theory, Studies in Higher Education, British Educational Research Journal, and Consumption Markets & Culture.

I welcome PhD applications from those interested in studying:
- Higher Education, especially student and staff behaviour
- Consumerism and consumer cultures
