Dr Jing Zhang is a development economist. She works at the interaction of international economics, development economics and environmental economics. Her research covers a range of topics including trade, foreign direct investment, innovation, environment, and economic development. Jing has published her work in journals such as World Development, International Business Review, Journal of Regional Science, and Journal of Development Studies.
Her previous funded project include "The Environmental Governance in a Polluted City in China"(British Academy), Spatial Distribution of Industrial Pollution in China (Ministry of Education of China), and "Local Government, Economic Growth and Human Development: Chinese Lessons for Kenya and Uganda?" (ESRC with Professor Lina Song at the University of Nottingham).

Jing's main research covers international trade, foreign investment, economics of innovation, environmental economics, and development economics. Specific topics include: globalisation, economic development and the environment; empirical international economics; empirical environmental economics, corruption and governance; technology transfer and innovation; and economic development in developing countries.
