Current Research
My research examines fantasy television as a contested genre, analysing the conflicting discourses generated about fantasy's definition and generic status by different stakeholders according to their professional investments in genre. The project focuses on channels, creators, and Over-the-Top streaming services as genre stakeholders in the United States post-2000, and explores how the contestation created by stakeholder disagreements shapes our understanding of genre.
