Useful information

Internet

There are wireless facilities within the halls of residence, Hotel and the main campus buildings. Information about connecting to the wireless can be found on the UoN-guest Wi-Fi page.

University Park and the City of Nottingham

The World Congress of Scottish Literatures will be held on the UK University Park campus of the University of Nottingham, which is on a public park of 300 acres. If the weather is kind, you’ll be able to enjoy lots of greenery and a visit to the lake in between sessions! View the campus and its facilities.

Just a tip: our campus has many gardens, including a 1930s garden near Lenton Hall, a Chinese garden on Cripps Hill, the Millennium garden to the back of the Orchard’s hotel and a little walled garden between the Trent Building and Highfield House (No. 12 on the campus map). If the weather is nice, these are well worth a visit. Add this link https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/sustainability/grounds/greenspaces.aspx

The campus is two miles from the city centre, which equates to a ten-minute tram journey, fifteen-minute taxi ride, or twenty-minute trip on the bus (see travel information). Nottingham is a friendly city with plenty of independent shops, restaurants and bars or you may also like to visit Beeston, a small suburb with places to eat and drink that’s a 20-minute walk from the campus (or a short taxi ride).

If you’d rather not venture off campus in the evenings, you don’t have to as evening meals on Wednesday and Thursday night are included in the delegate package and there is the option to book to attend the Conference Dinner and Dance on the Friday evening.
