2023 is the Year of the Rabbit — a kind, energetic, and resilient animal that represents patience and respect for others. Join Nottingham Confucius Institute in welcoming the Year of the Rabbit with a wide range of performances and art and craft activities for families and kids of all ages!

Here is a list of celebratory events organised/supoported by NCI in partnernship with Lakeside Arts, Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) and Cosmopolitan Arts:

  1. 19 Jan - Nottingham Chinese New Year Gala, starting at 7:00pm, approx. 120 mins including interval, Nottingham Playhouse, organised by CSSA and supported by NCI

  2. 28 Jan-16 Feb - “Moon Rabbit and other Stories from China” storytelling theatre, at Lakeside Arts, local libraries and schools, jointly funded by Arts Council England, Lakeside and NCI

  3. 11 Jan-1 Feb - Brush Painting with Feng-Ru Lee, every Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm, Lakeside Arts

  4. 28-29 Jan – Arts and Crafts workshops: Fan Paitning, 3D Pop-up Card Making and Lantern Making, 12:00 noon &2:00pm, 45 mins per session, Lakeside Arts

  5. 27-29 Jan – Exhibition, Chinese arts workshops and performances, 11:00am-4:00pm, Victoria Centre and Old Market Square, organised by Cosmopolitan Arts and supported by NCI (visit https://www.cosmopolitanarts.co.uk to find out more)

  6. 3 Feb - Mandarin Corner: Chinese Calligraphy, 6:30-8:00pm, Si Yuan Centre

  7. 5 Feb – Tea Ceremony and Guzheng, 1:30pm & 3:30pm, 45 mins per session, Lakeside Arts
