    A chance to try traditional craft activities. Sample Chinese calligraphy, get to grips with the art of origami and make a Chinese-style lucky bracelet to take home.

Join us to welcome the year of the dragon with an amazing 45-minute show filled with music, dance and kung fu! A kaleidoscope of fascinating performances by professional artists including Chinese suona, guzheng and violin music, together with spectacular group-coordinated Kung Fu routines. Each act builds to create a multi-layered experience of both traditional and contemporary Chinese culture, providing the perfect way to welcome the Year of the Dragon.

Internationally renowned guitarist Xuefei Yang joins the University Philharmonia to perform the world premiere of Chen Yi’s Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra. Commissioned by Lakeside Arts with funds from the University’s CASCADE and the Nottingham Confucius Institute the Concerto fuses classical western and Chinese musical ideas and instruments. 

This celebratory Chinese New Year concert features festive and popular music from China and Western classics.
