Nottingham Confucius Institute were proud to present the drama "Behind the Curtained Door" at the Djanogly Theatre, Lakeside Arts on Friday 16 June. It was commissioned by Manchester Confucius Institute and developed in collaboration with the University of Manchester’s Drama Department.

The drama was written by playwright M W Sun, co-author of the book "From Shore to Shore", which was made into a touring theatre show as well as a BBC audio drama. "Behind the Curtained Door" follows three Chinese women of different generations whose friendships prove to be stronger than the lies and betrayals they face together.

Nearly 200 university staff, students and local residents attended the show. Several attendees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to watch a play written about Chinese immigrants commenting how much they enjoyed the cast's wonderful and touching performance.

Once again, we would like to say a big thank you to the audience and the cast and crew. They include Yanni Ng (Yiling and Producer), Lauren Lees (stage director), Hayley Yiu (Ah Luk), Shuwei Shi (Ping), Samuel Hedley (sound designer) and Oljas Kudabayev (Cheung Bak), all of whom are students at the University of Manchester.

Behind the Curtained Door
