17 students from across all five UoN faculties and two young professionals studying Mandarin part-time at the Nottingham Confucius institute (NCI) joined our Spring Camp to China programme during the Easter holidays. The trip was organised by NCI and delivered by our partner Fudan University in Shanghai with support from University of Nottingham Ningbo Campus (UNNC).
During the 12 days in China (April 8 to 19), our 19 students visited Fudan to attend a host of language classes and cultural sessions, with topics ranging from Chinese tie dye to dragon and lion dancing. They also visited sites of historical and cultural interest in Shanghai, Beijing and Ningbo including the Bund, Yu Garden, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Zoumatang and more.
The students also enjoyed some wonderful Chinese cuisine along the way, including Peking Duck, Sichuan Hotpot and Shanghai Xiaolongbao.
Whilst in Ningbo, they visited UNNC and attended some of the celebratory events to mark UNNC’s 20th Anniversary. Several students expressed interest in study abroad opportunities at UNNC.
