Conditions for applying
Please read and check you have completed the following before starting your application:
- You have checked to see where you can study abroad, checked your school/department participates in the programme and you are in the appropriate year of study to apply for the University-wide programme by reviewing your School study abroad opportunities on the Faculty Global Opportunities pages.
- You have selected up to three choices and researched the appropriate compulsory and/or optional modules for your proposed study abroad period at each partner university/campus.
- You have prepared your answers to the following personal statement question:
- You have read the Study abroad finance webpage and researched an approximate budget for your proposed study abroad period.
- You have read and understood the Data Protection information below.
- Applicants who have not achieved an overall minimum of 60% in their academic average, including assessment results from autumn semester 2025, will not be considered for International Exchange partners, unless you have official extenuating circumstances accepted by your school/department by the time of selection.
- If you have a physical disability, a long-term medical condition, a Specific Learning Difference (SpLD), e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, a sensory impairment or mental health issues then you should read the Study abroad for disabled students guide and you may also wish to speak with your Disability Liaison Officer in your school/department.
- Students with criminal convictions wishing to apply for study abroad opportunities should be aware of restrictions placed on visa applications depending on the country in which they would like to undertake their period of study abroad. If you have a criminal record, this may prevent you from entering certain countries and you should check the entry criteria with the relevant embassy to see if any documentation is required.
- Students applying to the Malaysia Campus must ensure their passport is valid until at least 18 months from the date of entry in to Malaysia. So if you are applying for an autumn start (September entry) your passport would need to be valid until at least March 2028.
Data Protection
The University of Nottingham is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner's Office for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The University is committed to ensuring that the personal data of its students is handled in accordance with the principles set out in the GDPR. The personal information you provide in relation to your exchange will be protected in accordance with the GDPR and will be used by the Study Abroad team to determine your suitability for the University-wide programme. Your personal information will be stored securely.
The University of Nottingham will not disclose your personal information without your consent unless the University is under a legal obligation to do so. However, should you be accepted, it will be necessary to forward your personal details including your name, date of birth, nationality, University of Nottingham email address, academic transcript and intended area(s) of study to your allocated host university as part of the nomination process.
Should you be accepted, your name and University of Nottingham email address will also be shared with other students participating in the University-wide programme. If you do not wish for these details to be disclosed, please contact the Global opportunities team.
