Biography
Chris Dodds is a member of the Advanced Materials Research Group (AMRG).
Expertise Summary
I work on the design, scale up and commercialization of microwave and radio frequency processes. Fundamental understanding of the microwave / material interactions at a molecular level is required to maximise the process benefits which include improved energy efficiency, product quality and throughput with reduced environmental impact including carbon footprint.
We are a highly multidisciplinary team working across a wide range of applications and sectors. Recent applications include:-
- Sustainable Iron Reduction with biomass
- Sustainable polymer processing
- Offshore treatment of drilling wastes
- Energy efficient mineral processing
Future Research
I welcome enquiries from potential PhD candidates from Home, EU and international countries who are interested in the following research areas: Microwave process engineering, Microwave processing of materials, fundamental understanding through to scale up of microwave processing applications including process heating, polymer synthesis, and material processing applications.
