Special Leave

We recognise that staff may need to take leave to deal with an unexpected or sudden problem.

The Special Leave Policy applies for unplanned and urgent domestic, personal and family reasons, enabling staff to apply to take a reasonable period of unpaid time off to deal with those unplanned and urgent events. The Policy provides more detail on cases when this leave can be taken and the eligibility criteria.

The Special Leave Policy also covers Parental Bereavement Leave which provides parents who suffer the devastating loss of a child up to two weeks’ bereavement leave. More information on eligibility criteria and the rates of pay that will apply can be found in the Policy.
