If you work full-time you will normally be required to have a one hour unpaid meal break each day.
In certain posts, you may be asked to work or stand by during your meal break, otherwise your normal working week as detailed above is exclusive of meal breaks.
If you work part-time, you will be required to take an unpaid meal break of at least half-hour if contracted to work continuously for more than five hours on any working day. If this is the case, you should discuss and agree with your Head of School/Department any meal break arrangements.
There is no contractual entitlement for staff in any Job Family to take a paid break during their working day.
